A happy first year
We'd lived in North London for decades, and after we retired we wanted to move out of town.
Time to move
While we were still in London, two of our in-laws moved to Kersey in Suffolk, and as we got to know the area we fell in love with it.
Our in-laws introduced us to near-by Hadleigh because it ticked all our boxes:
- a small town, but not too small
- good shops within walking distance
- affordable
An instant offer
We decided to house-hunt and made an offer for the first house we saw. There were the usual house-buying complications, but we moved here just over a year ago and we have never been more contented. We've found so many positive aspects that it's hard t keep track of them all.
Nearby walks
We both love to walk, and we have half a dozen regular walks that start from our front door, One of my favourites takes me into the church in the centre of the town, five minutes away. The church is beautiful, and it has two delightful neighbours.
Next to the church there's a brick Tudor deanery which you can see in the top photo , and the church is opposite the Guildhall (photo below).
Space and comfort
We live in a rather more modest house :) It's solidly built, with much more room than we had in London. We're in a very friendly neighbourhood and we've both made a lot of local contacts.
When the world at large is subject to constant stress and upheaval, Hadleigh has a feeling of continuity and stability. We are very lucky to have found it.
